Data Guy
Product Data Manager working at the nexus of healthcare, research, and software — currently at Verily Health.
A scientist who became enchanted by clinical data.
In 2008 I completed my Biochemistry degree at the University of Guelph, where I was named Co-op Student of the Year in Science & Engineering after a productive thesis project in the Jones Lab. With funding from a CIHR Master's Award, I continued on in the Jones lab studying neurodeveloment and oligodendrocyte differentiation and ultimately graduated with an M.Sc. in Molecular Biology and Neuroscience at the end of the decade.
After a few years at high-performance research labs at SickKids Hospital, I joined CAMH in 2016 and pivoted from bench work to clinical data management — building large, multi-user databases for the Slaight Family Centre for Youth in Transition. Pursuing my love of electronic data capture (not even joking), I became REDCap Project Lead, overseeing REDCap across research, clinical trials, and clinical data capture across CAMH. To this day, I maintain that REDCap is the GOATed EDC platform; those guys have truly done something magical. Somewhere in those CAMH years I also picked up second Master's in Health Informatics at the University of Toronto, finishing in 2020. I met a lot of great friends there.
In 2022 I joined Alphabet's health-tech organization, Verily Health as a Clinical Data Manager, and was promoted to Principal Product Data Manager in 2025. At Verily, I am the AI Lead for my department and I work extensively with Product and Engineering teams on product design and data modeling. In 2025 I became a certified FHIR Implementer, and now sit on Verily's FHIR Council to oversee the development of our foundational data model.
Lastly, because I haven't been able to fully let go of REDCap, I also periodically teach a class on Electronic Data Capture at Seneca College. It's a lot of fun.

Data Analysis
Writing SQL queries is literally my favourite part of my job. I even had a SQL blog at one point.
